NOBODY:

ABSOLUTELY NOBODY:

PIZZA DA’ACTION: HOME OF THE ONE-STOP PHILLY TACO.

There’s no question, Philadelphia’s food scene has blossomed in recent years with world-class restaurants, but even as we take one step forward culinarily, corny food gimmicks endure. South Street is arguably one of Philly’s most famous streets, but for some reason, it can’t get out of its own way. Sigh.

The “Philly Taco” — a gluttonous invention that consists of a Jim’s cheesesteak rolled up in an oversized slice of Lorenzo’s pizza — born on South Street in 2003 has become a Philly food institution that attracts brave, food challenging seeking folks with iron stomachs from all over the country.

A new South Street restaurant wants to become the primary destination for the famed Philly Taco. Pizza Da’Action, located below Fat Tuesday’s at 431 South Street, is marketing themselves as “The Original Home of the One-Stop Philly Taco.” They’re also claiming to have the biggest slice of pizza in South Philly.

As if that’s not enough, they’re contestifying the consumption of their version of the Philly Taco by offering cash and prizes for anyone who can finish one in 5 minutes. 🤢

Pushing for a July 15th opening, Pizza Da’Action will also offer a veritable smorgasbord of comfort food and novelties including hoagies, wings, stromboli, calzones, panzarotti, fried chicken, nachos, hot dogs, cotton candy, freshly popped popcorn, and breakfast served all day.

Thanks to Noah Webster of MOO Tattoo for bringing this thrilling Philly food news to my attention. 😆

Stay classy, Philly.
