Mardi Gras at Rex at the Royal

Rex at The Royal, Philadelphia’s home for elevated Lowcountry fare housed in the historic and newly rejuvenated Royal Theater, is celebrating Mardi Gras during dinner service on Tuesday, February 21 from 5 – 10pm with New Orleans-inspired fare and libations, alongside live music by Philly favorites, The War on Drugs’ Charlie Hall.

Beverage Manager Joshua Scheid will be stirring up stunning sippers such as the Working Lunch ($15), inspired by the “working man’s lunch” of Moon Pies and RC Cola, popular during the 1950s, a period in which Philadelphia’s Royal Theater was in full swing. A boozy and earthy twist on the classic Southern combination, this libation is crafted with Saint Luna Moonshine infused with graham crackers, cacao nibs, and local mushroom, sweetened with Partida Creus MUZ Vermouth and an RC Cola reduction, garnished with a marshmallow.

Cocktail enthusiasts can also enjoy a New Orleans favorite: Hurricanewill be just $9 each, made with a blend of rums, Falernum, orange, lime, cranberry, and homemade grenadine.

While imbibing, guests can indulge in Rex at The Royal’s King Cake Burger ($23), comprised of the celebrated Rex burger upgraded to a new level of decadence with a glazed King Cake bun.

Hours of operation: Monday through Thursday from 5 – 10 pm, Friday and Saturday from 5 – 11pm, with brunch available on Sunday from 11 am – 2:30 pm, followed by dinner running from 5 – 10 pm.
