Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board Launches Montco Makers, the Official Guide to the County’s Craft Brews, Wines and Spirits

Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, is home to 19 craft breweries, five wineries, and three distilleries. The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB), the destination marketing organization for Montgomery County, has launched an app to aid visitors in discovering the region’s award-winning handcrafted and locally sourced beers, ciders, wines, and spirits.

Visitors can use the app to find information on tastings, tours, live music, and trivia nights. There are even details about where to go to create your own wine with experienced winemakers, or learn about the distilling process in an 1800s fire company. Visitors can check in at more than two dozen Montco Makers destinations from Ambler to Telford, Norristown to Perkiomenville, and more, and earn rewards, win prizes, see upcoming events, get information on hotels, and plan their stay. They will also learn where they can host parties and bridal showers.

“Local makers pour passion, precision, and pride into their craft,” said Ed Harris, chief marketing officer for the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board.  “This new app, as well as features on our website and social media, will guide visitors interested in discovering these award-winning destination spots in our region.  There will be resources such as maps, information on hotels and hotel packages, as well as nearby things to see and do, including events and festivals, that will help visitors and locals make it a Montco weekend.”

In addition to developing the app, the VFTCB is partnering with one of the newest breweries to open in Montgomery County, and the only craft brewery coming to King of Prussia – Workhorse Brewing Company – on a local beer series. A new brew will debut each quarter and be branded using the help of local artists.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beer will go to VFTCB’s Valley Forge Freedom From Hunger Food Drive, held each September.
