The Plated Nickel, a new family-owned bar, will open at 2327 E York St in Fishtown on Sunday, March 1st. This location housed the short-lived Sergeant York and Jovan’s Place before that.
According to owners Megan Nickel-Ribikauskas and her sister Shannon Nickel, both born and raised in South Philly, The Plated Nickel will serve American bar food and specialty drinks along with a variety of local craft beers on tap next to domestic favorites. Cider will also be featured.
Shannon is a long-time restaurant industry vet and has worked for various restaurants in Atlantic City and Philadelphia as a general manager.
“It has been our dream to own a family business,” says Megan Nickel-Ribikauskas who also noted that the location is perfect for what they’d like to offer; a place locals can feel at home.
Sports fans will be happy as they plan on hosting sports events for the Phillies and Eagles games and will cater to a sports-loving crowd.
They will also have live entertainment in the form of DJs, Quizzo, Name That Tune, and karaoke nights.
The bar will be open from 4PM to 2AM on weekdays and 11AM to 2AM on weekends with happy hours from 4-6PM. Hours may be expanded in the future.
A food menu is still being worked out but will be shared as soon as it becomes available.
Outside seating will be available as soon as it is approved.
Stay tuned for more details.
