If you’re a fan of Bob’s Burgers, you may recognize the reference to this new taco-centric restaurant in Fishtown which will pay a tribute of sorts to Tina Ruth Belcher, the eldest daughter of the show’s main protagonist.
Tina’s Tacos, a new taqueria located at 2327 E. York Street, has opened its doors to 50% indoor dining capacity offering a full menu of tacos including the increasingly popular birria tacos, side dishes such as street corn with an Indian twist, and a variety of churros like the delectable-sounding caramel peanut butter cup churro. There will be vegan and vegetarian options available as well.
The bar will be hopping with a cocktail menu filled with margaritas, mules, mojitos, and more. A craft beer selection will be on tap and in bottles or cans, as well as a few house wines. A brunch menu with bottomless drinks will come later.
This is the first restaurant venture by owners Darshak Pendem, 25, and Puja Gohil, 24. Each comes into the business with their own distinct background and experience. A graduate of Temple University, Puja has worked at a variety of cafes and restaurants. At the same time, Darshak brings a business background in finance and marketing as a graduate of Penn State University.
“This is our rendition of a bar/restaurant that Tina Belcher owns when she’s older, taking after her father in the restaurant business,” Pendem and Gohil, fans of the hit Fox animated sitcom, explain to Philly Grub. “We will have some memorabilia relating to Bob’s Burgers inside the restaurant.”
