Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie Chefs/Owners Christine and Nick Kondra are excited to welcome Executive Chef Francisco Millan of Boston’s renowned Row 34 for an exclusive two-night cooking series. At Row 34, Chef Millan’s specialties include the delicate art of smoking and curing fish along with his outstanding ceviche and crudo program.
Programming begins both nights at 7:30pm — Tuesday, December 15th & Wednesday, December 16th. Chef Millan will be accompanied by Row 34’s Beer Director, Megan Parker-Gray and guests will learn about the intricacies of creating Row 34’s house smoked and cured shellfish and flatfish board and taste their way through a bevy of different varieties all while washing them down with hand-selected craft beer pairings. This exclusive, coast-to-coast four course dining experience is limited to 14 guests per night at $150 per person.
After travelling the country on many culinary odysseys and working with the nation’s top talents, Chefs Christine and Nick Kondra opened Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie — their new expertly sourced retail concept, prepared foods store, 14 seat chefs counter, visiting chef venue, and culinary destination — across from the historic Wayne train station and anchored in the business district of this picturesque Main Line community, on Friday, October 9th, 2015.
“Think of it as gastronomic mecca for the best cheeses, cured meats, house-made sausages, prepared foods, and BYO service — and also as a gathering place for friends and loved ones to meet and enjoy themselves around our expansive 14-seat counter, or venue to attend a class from a visiting chef who just flew in from across the country” Chef Christine said.
Upon entering Cornerstone, a well-stocked charcuterie section is to one’s left, expertly staffed at its dedicated counter. Prepared foods line the display of the charcuterie station. Steps away, the cheese counter is rife with the world’s best cheeses, along with a wealth of exceptional accouterments. To the right of the cheese station, a 14-seat chefs’ counter dominates the space with a view of the bustling train station across the street. Here prepared foods may be enjoyed, along with beautifully presented cheese and charcuterie boards, and delicious house-made dishes, such as soups, mussels and seasonal mac and cheese. A dynamic line up of visiting chefs and other top-tier culinary talent from across the country distinguishes Cornerstone and secures its place as a culinary destination, not only for the Main Line, but the entire Philadelphia region as a whole.
Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie focuses on exceptionally sourced cheeses and cured meats. A series of sausages and patés are made in-house. Cornerstone also provides fresh bread, specialty crackers, pickled vegetables, and a broad array of specialty foods to create outstanding culinary experiences.
“We set out to create a place where people can come and purchase the best cheese and charcuterie, bring it home for a special event, or enjoy it right in the shop at our open kitchen,” Chef Christine said. “That’s why we created this warm, inviting setting, where people can be comfortable just sitting around the counter. I think it’s reminiscent of the best of a rustic European experience — with great food, friends, and an enveloping atmosphere.”
Cornerstone offers a series of classes and ticketed events with visiting chefs, farmers and other culinary talent from across the country. Cornerstone is the perfect place to stop and enjoy cheese and meats at the kitchen counter before heading home, join friends for a fun and informative class, and of course, shop for exceptional cheese, charcuterie and other fare. Customers can also order online or call in orders to pick up. An expert team offers advice on everything from wine and beer pairings to how much to purchase for an at-home event or an intimate dinner.
Cornerstone Cheese & Charcuterie is a destination for everything excellent to start a meal, host a party, or simply to enjoy the moment with artisanal cheese, fresh sausages, the best cured meat, patés, soups, excellent pickles, exceptional mustards, the perfect crunchy French baguette, bringing the best of the best from across the country and throughout the world to the Main Line.
