Otto’s Taproom & Grille’s Executive Chef David Sposato and Chef de Cuisine Shawn McConnell have launched a new Wednesday night sandwich initiative which will rotate monthly, with proceeds benefiting the Brewerytown Community Garden.
The first sandwich in the series is an homage to the classic South Philly chicken cutlet, including a stack of crispy cutlets tucked inside a freshly baked Sarcone’s Bakery roll filled with broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers, and sharp provolone for $18.

Chefs Sposato and McConnell’s goal for this program is to highlight classic sandwiches from all over the city while also benefiting the Brewerytown community. Located at 17th and Master Street, the Brewerytown Community Garden connects residents with healthy food from sustainable family farms. The Garden provides agricultural resources for the community, including farm stands, annual events, and educational workshops.
“I’m very excited that we’re launching this series with this classic South Philly staple,” said McConnell. “When we first started discussing this initiative, both David and I immediately agreed that this needed to be the first sandwich in the campaign. Philadelphians love chicken cutlets, and we feel that the city’s love for this sandwich actually outweighs our adoration for cheesesteaks.”
