This November marks the 20th anniversary of El Vez, cornerstone of the Philadelphia dining culture, and an iconic representation of Mex-Eclectic charm. Founded on November 7, 2003, STARR Restaurants’ El Vez quickly became one of the city’s most beloved dining destinations, known for its vivacious interpretation of Mexican classics, one of Philadelphia’s most impressive tequila selections, and an ambience that can only be described as a radiant joy ride in a Tijuana taxi.

To commemorate this milestone, El Vez will kick-off the celebrations on the official anniversary date, Tuesday, November 7, with a strolling mariachi band from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm, accompanied by surprises for visitors.

The party continues with a weekend-long celebration on Friday, November 10, and Saturday, November 11, as a tribute to all things El Vez. On Friday, November 10 guests are encouraged to dive into the nostalgia with world-renowned performers, El Vez + El Vettes. The famed “Mexican Elvis” and namesake of El Vez Restaurant will meet and greet guests from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. To set the tone, the restaurant will exclusively play a curated playlist featuring music from Elvis and El Vez.

Saturday, November 11 will feature a live performance by El Vez + El Vettes from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, accompanied by returning menu favorites including steak nachos, sea bass tacos, Camerones Al Ajillo, and featured cocktail, Tangerine Dream. El Vez with also be dropping limited-edition merchandise for the first time, including baseball t-shirts, shot glasses, lighters, magnets, and a bottle opener keychain.

Starr has further enriched the city’s culinary landscape with 19 unique restaurant concepts, each contributing to Philadelphia’s vibrant food scene. Yet, El Vez remains an enduring favorite for long-time patrons and newer generations alike.
