When Chef Nana Araba Wilmot started her newest venture, ‘Love That I Knead Supper Club,’ a West African-focused dinner series that celebrates Black history and food from across the African diaspora, she began to explore her identity on a plate while also helping others to “find their way back,” spanning locations from Philadelphia to New York to Accra, the capital of Ghana.
Now, the chef and owner of Georgina’s Private Chef and Catering Co. is ready to show her skills off in a different way, jumping behind the line to cook with Chef Randy Rucker, as River Twice is welcoming in the celebrated chef for a collaborative dinner on Tuesday, April 4th beginning at 5 p.m. at the restaurant located at 1601 E. Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia.
The menu will incorporate Chef Rucker’s flavors with Chef Nana’s West African-focused cuisine for a total collaboration. The seven-course tasting is priced at $125 per person, or $150 at the six-seat chef’s counter. Due to the nature of the event, dietary restrictions unfortunately cannot be accommodated. Reservations can be made now via Resy.
Chef Nana started cooking at the age of seven with her grandmother, which was the source of her love of cooking for others. After graduating in 2013 with two degrees in culinary arts and culinary management from The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chef Nana went on to work for Wolfgang Puck Catering, as well as Iron Chef Jose Garces’ restaurants. She eventually worked in New York at Stephan Starr’s Le Coucou with Chef Daniel Rose, and then with Chef Marie Rose at Le Mercerie. In February 2020, Chef Nana accepted a job in Paris to work at La Bourse et La Vie by Daniel Rose, but moved back to Philadelphia due to the pandemic. She has been featured in Bon Appetit, the New York Times, and on the Cherry Bombe podcast.
The Hidden in Plain Sight dinner series is a multi-course dining event featuring a collaboration between Rucker and a guest chef or a food or beverage brand. Among the previous collaborations to date include dinners with Chef Alex Yoon, Chef Amanda Shulman, Chef Matthew Erik Harper, Chef Dominic Piperno, Hale & True Cider, Garden State Mushrooms, Chef Ange Branca, Chef Shola Olunloyo, Chef Diego Moya (Brooklyn), and Chef Evan Hennessy (NH), among others.
