Penzeys, the beloved spice store at 233 Market Street in Old City, wants to keep its doors open, but it could “use a few more customers,” per an email that went out this week from owner Bill Penzey. The Market Street location opened in 2020 after it vacated The Bourse.
Then Covid-19 hit.
As with most retail businesses, they’re struggling to get the in-store traffic they once did. While they don’t need “an explosion of sales,” they welcome new and existing customers to come into the store to help keep it open.
Here’s your prompt to shop at Penzeys in Old City, spice lovers!
They have until February to decide whether to renew the lease or not. Stay tuned.
