Celebrate Mead Day with My Local Brew Works

Philadelphia, PA – My Local Brew Works (MLBW), the freshly minted custom craft brewery specializing in contract brewing, special events, and direct-to-public sales, is welcoming guests to their brewery for Mead Fest on Saturday, August 6 from 12 – 2pm

Mead is an alcoholic beverage brewed by fermenting honey with water and other ingredients that is widely considered to predate agriculture in its discovery. In 2002 the American Homebrewers Association started Mead Day to both honor and draw attention to mead and twenty years later My Local Brew Works is producing their own takes on the crisp and sweet beverage.

My Local Brew Works, helmed by two award-winning local former home brewers Tim Montague and Wayne Humphrey, along with noted Philadelphia beer sage George Hummel, is partnering with neighboring small businesses located within the Globe Dye Works Anita’s Guacamole and Weckerly’s Ice Cream to share their love of mead with the public.

Mead Fest attendees will have the chance to sample My Local Brew Works Blueberry and Raspberry flavored meads both standalone and paired with a chips and fruit-forward salsa courtesy of Anita’s as well as in the form of mead floats, with pours over Weckerly’s Vanilla Ice Cream.

The MLBW team will be available to talk about all things mead and will be brewing new batches of Blackberry, Mango, and Peach meads. Bottles of mead will be available for purchase on-site and the newly brewed meads will be available for pre-purchase.

The Global Dye Works event space is located at 4501 Torresdale Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19124.
