International Curry Week at Karma Restaurant Philadelphia


International Curry Week is celebrated throughout the world from October 12 to 28 and Karma Restaurant located at 246 Market Street is celebrating.

The special curry-centric menu will allow customers to select a three dish sampler for a special price of $25, which will feature a generous combination of the three selected curry dishes, while the curry-inspired cocktails are priced at $7 apiece.

Karma’s curry creations include:

  • Butter Chicken, which is cooked in a clay oven and simmered in a creamy tomato-based rich sauce;

  • Lamb Sukka, slow-cooked lamb is accompanied by vegetables and curry leaves with whole spices to make a semi gravy sukka sauce;

  • Mushroom Pepper Masala, with onions and peppers along with coriander seeds in a semi gravy;

  • Naddan Chicken Curry, a Southern Indian staple, where bone-in chicken is simmered with garlic, ginger, mustard seeds, curry leaves and cumin seeds along with a number of other spices to make a savory light curry sauce.

  • Scallops & Crab Curry, which features a coconut cream and lump crab-based curry with onions, pan-fried in lightly dusted Indian spices and whole spices simmered in the sauce.

The three dish sampler includes any combination of the curry dishes, though you will need to add a $10 supplement to include the Scallop & Crab Curry.

For the cocktails, curry lovers can select either:

  • “The Maharashtra” featuring Jamison Irish Whiskey, Pirate Rum, egg white, saffron-infused syrup, honey, and lemon juice;

  • “Indian’s Leche’s” with Grey Goose, Leche juice, grenadine, and simple syrup;

  • “The Rubber Estate” an Indian style Old Fashioned featuring Templeton, Campari Liqueur, Angostura bitters, sweet & soup, and simple syrup;

  • “Fizzy White” featuring Bira 91 White, dry gin, lemon juice, and an orange peel.

International Curry Week is sponsored by India’s Bira 91.
