“Philly’s Classic Cook-Off” presented by Budweiser will be held on Thursday, August 23rd between 5:30-8:00 p.m at The Piazza (1001 N. 2nd Street) in Northern Liberties.

The event will feature Philly’s favorite dishes reinvented, live music and Budweiser beer. Six competing restaurants will throw down for a panel of judges (including yours truly) and YOU to vote on who will be “Philly’s Classic Cook-Off’s” winners.

Competitors and their dishes are as follows:

  • MilkBoy – Roast Pork Remix – Local apple cider brined Pork butt wrapped in banana leaves and slow roasted until fall apart tender. Topped with broccolini, local Asian pear slaw, and charred Budweiser pickled long hots on a local seeded pain au lait bun.

  • Molly Malloy’s – The Scrappy Philadelphian – Scrapple, egg & cheese sandwich with homemade pickled green tomato ketchup.

  • The Union Tap – The Delphia Burger – A half pound grilled burger topped with chopped steak meat, sautéed onions, thinly sliced pork roll and melted American cheese topped with a spicy thousand island dressing on a warm salted pretzel bun.

  • Mad Rex – Pretzel Wiz Wit – A dessert that resembles this savory dish with chocolate mousse and chocolate fuettinne.

  • Revolution Taco – Italian Hoagie Empanada – Classic Italian meats and cheeses inside a perfectly fried empanada.

  • Slice – Truffled Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak Pizza – Ribeye steak, mozzarella and American cheese, portobello mushrooms, red onions and white truffle oil.
