Coming to Rehoboth Beach in July 2018, The Pines Modern Tavern will have a classic tavern feel in an upgraded, contemporary restaurant setting. The two-level revamped establishment located at 56 Baltimore Avenue will feature bespoke interior design, creative American cuisine, craft cocktails and international wines in a casual, yet lively atmosphere mere blocks from the beach.
The Pines is the dream and vision of Tyler Townsend, a Rehoboth Beach native, and former Baltimore Oriole baseball player. A career ending injury took him out of baseball and into studying hospitality management at Florida International University. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the restaurant industry drove him to return to his hometown to open The Pines.
His partner, Bob Suppies, a native of Maine and retail veteran, has made Rehoboth Beach his home since 1997. He’s also always dreamed of running his own restaurant. This will be the first restaurant for both.
They’ve named Baltimore native Dane Wilfong as Executive Chef. Dane comes with many years experience in catering operations and seafood restaurants in Baltimore as well as Executive Chef at Cafe Troia in Townson, MD. He plans on offering modern twists on classic dishes at The Pines.
Prior to opening, they’re running a Cocktail Creation Contest. Submit a cocktail recipe to them for a chance to win a $50 gift card and have your cocktail featured on the menu for a month after they open.
