The Farmhouse: Seasonal, Local Eats in Cherry Hill

The Farmhouse312 Kresson Road in Cherry Hill, is ready to open. This new farm-to-table concept, with a wink to Southern cuisine, is the brainchild of owner Stu Wanicur. His partner, Executive Chef David Murray, crafted a menu that focuses on using as many local and seasonal ingredients as possible; with many sourced from farms and purveyors within a 40 mile radius of the restaurant.

An exciting newcomer on the South Jersey dining scene for sure. The restaurant will be open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch 6 days a week. A big draw will be the large outdoor dining patio with a roof and “walls” that will retract in the event of inclement weather, ensuring the al fresco experience is never disrupted. Cool, huh? A perfect spot for private parties!

We stopped by recently to preview a bit of the menu. Here’s some of what you can expect for brunch:

Ultra fresh Spring Pea Soup, served chilled, is both refreshing and luxurious. Sure to be a hit in the months ahead!

How does Deconstructed Avocado Toast sound? Chef David’s creativity really shines here. Quite a unique spin on a trendy dish popping up on menu’s everywhere. The whipped avocado mousse is smooth, luscious, and well seasoned. Cherry yellow tomatoes and sliced red jalapeno peppers jumped off the Corelle plate for a beautiful presentation. A feast for the eyes and mouth.

Potato Pancakes Farmhouse Cherry Hill

Potato Pancakes may seem a tad pedestrian, but these are anything but. Served with thinly sliced English cucumber, house lemon-cured organic salmon, crème fraiche, fresh dill, and fried capers. The latkes could have stood a tad bit more browning in the skillet for my liking, but they were still delightful.

Eating food on a stick is fun. When that food is tempura fried lobster, it’s taken to a whole other level. You’re going to want to order these Lobster “Corndogs” on your visit. Just trust me.

Farmhouse Cherry Hill Quinoa Pancakes

If you don’t like pancakes, then I don’t even want to know you. But seriously, these Quinoa Pancakes with caramelized pineapple and shredded coconut (okay so that’s not sourced locally) are so good. I loved the size of them. They weren’t as big as my head as some restaurants are wont to do. I like my pancake, you know, normal sized. You can see the quinoa, but you won’t know it’s there. Honest. Even if you don’t like quinoa, you’ll love these pancakes!

Farmhouse Cherry Hill Babka French Toast

The showstopper plate of the day was the Nutella Babka French Toast with Bananas Foster Sauce. Shut the front door! This is an ABSOLUTE must to order – even if you don’t like sweet plates. You will want to drink that sauce.

Farmhouse Cherry Hill Pulled Pork Omelette

Naturally, there are omelettes on the menu, but the one we tried hasn’t been put on the menu just yet. BBQ meets brunch, we think this Pulled Pork & Pimento Cheese Omelette needs to be added. The pimento cheese has a kick to it, but I loved it. I insist you ask for this omelette. 😉

If this is any indication of what they’ll be putting out, we can’t wait to go back for dinner! I think The Farmhouse is a welcome and needed addition to the South Jersey and Philadelphia-area dining scene. If you go, be sure to tell them Philly Grub sent ya.
