Weckerly’s Releases Limited Edition “Veil of Shadows” Ice Cream Sandwich

It’s probably safe to say that everyone’s favorite memory of Halloween is sorting through a bag of hard-earned goodies, tossing aside bubblegum and pennies, and digging for the good stuff.

Feeling nostalgic, the mischievous staff at Weckerly’s Ice Cream, the Philadelphia-based micro-creamery, stirred up a devilish treat reminiscent of those coveted candy bars.

Beginning tomorrow, Friday, October 21, in the spirit of the holiday and embracing the unusual, Weckerly’s will introduce the “Veil of Shadows,” a limited edition sandwich to celebrate the ghoulish season (photo attached).

It starts with caramel ice cream and handmade white marshmallow fluff, that is sandwiched between two pieces of dark chocolate “bark” dotted with roasted peanuts, pretzel pieces and crisped rice. The “Veil of Shadows” sandwich, enveloped in festive foil wrapping, will be available wherever Weckerly’s Ice Cream products are sold.

A full list of vendors can be found by visiting their website: www.weckerlys.com/stockists.

Additionally, Weckerly’s will be vending at these upcoming events:

  • Collingswood Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 22

  • Phoenixville Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 22

  • Clover Market in Bryn Mawr, PA on Sunday, October 23

  • East Passyunk Fall Festival on Saturday, October 29

To make a sweet treat even sweeter, 36 “Veil of Shadows” sandwiches will be made with “black void” marshmallows, which are “black as a starless night,” according to the folks at Weckerly’s. Guests who unwrap a special sandwich, which will also contain a note certifying authenticity, will be encouraged to take a photo of it and tag #Weckerlys on Instagram to receive a free ice cream scoop or sandwich once Weckerly’s opens their first brick-and-mortar shop at 9 West Girard Avenue in Philadelphia later this fall – stay tuned for more details on that!
