Dog-Lovers and Wanna-Be Dog Owners Converge on Square 1682 This Saturday for Relaunch of BYOD — “BRING YOUR OWN DOG” BRUNCH
Square 1682, the Modern American restaurant in Hotel Palomar at 17th & Sansom Streets, goes to the dogs this weekend when the restaurant relaunches it’s popular BYOD for an extended Fall run with dogs on site from LuLu’s Rescue.
The BYOD Brunch takes place every Saturday and Sunday 10AM-1PM through October at Square 1682’s outdoor seating. The volunteer companion animal rescue group will have five adoptable dogs on site outside Square 1682 as the Rittenhouse Square restaurant offers gourmet dog bowls to canine guests and cocktails to human guests.
Proceeds from the brunch will benefit the rescue group with one dollar from every cocktail sold off the BYOD patio brunch menu going to Lulu’s Rescue. Finally, you can feel good about getting drunk at brunch!
Square 1682 Executive Chef and GM Caitlin Mateo designed a special menu for canine guests including three distinct dog dishes, plus a fun pet-friendly “pupsicle”. The BYOD menu includes Blue Ribbon Stew with organic chicken, steel cut oats, zucchini and carrots. Mateo’s dog treat “pupsicles” are made with frozen peanut butter banana bites, topped with bacon.
Lead Bartender Daniel Kulisek crafted a series of cocktails that also support Lulu’s Rescue, including the bright and refreshing Toto Comes Home with Tito’s Vodka, Bauchant Orange Liqueur, lime, grapefruit and celery bitters, on the rocks. Lassie Bites Back and Snoopy Takes Tijuana are other canine-inspired elixirs offered with BYOD that contribute to the cause.
Sounds like a doggone good time— we approve and think all dog lovers MUST go!
