Washington DC’s Cherry Blossom Bus to Stop in Rittenhouse Square to Promote Spring Tourism

On Sunday, February 26th, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Administration will launch a Northeast U.S. bus tour promoting the National Cherry Blossom Festival. A 45-foot spring-themed bus will be making its way across Philadelphia as part of Washington, DC’s four-day, five-city Cherry Blossom Bus Tour, on Tuesday, February 28.

The Cherry Blossom Bus Tour aims to invite everyone along the Northeast corridor to experience spring in DC, including the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which will be held March 20 – April 16, 2023. The Festival, which attracts more than 1.5 million people to the District, marks the beginning of spring in the Nation’s Capital. At the heart of the Festival is the blooming of 3,000 cherry trees along the Tidal Basin, a gift celebrating international friendship and intercultural connection between Tokyo and Washington in 1912.

The bus will make a stop at Comcast Center for an #ExperienceDC Cherry Blossom Pop-Up between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The pop-up includes a DJ playing Go-go music, cherry blossom and DC tourism giveaways, and a workshop on creating paper cherry blossoms to bring home.

The Cherry Blossom Bus Tour will launch in Boston, then travel to New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore between February 26 and February 28. The tour will culminate in Washington, DC at the National Cherry Blossom Festival and National Park Service’s official announcement of peak bloom dates on March 1.
