DF Nigeria Food Truck Launching in Northeast Philly on July 13

A taste of authentic Nigerian food is rolling into and setting up an outpost in Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 13th.

NYC-based DF Nigeria Food Truck is bringing Nigerian and West African food to 7300 Roosevelt Blvd near the Roosevelt Mall (inside Philly Gas). Update: new address is 5200 Whitaker Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19124.

Founded by Chef Godshelter Oluwalogbon ~ AKA Chef Divine ~ in 2019, DF Nigeria Food Truck specializes in popular Nigerian and West African dishes such as Jollof rice, fufu (dumpling-like balls made from cassava and/or plantains), gizdodo (chicken gizzards with plaintains), and hearty meat and vegan stews, just to name a few.

Chef Divine’s journey from West Africa is a story of an immigrant chasing the American Dream. He arrived in the USA in 2001, graduated from the New York School of Culinary Arts, started working for Zabar’s, and launched his own part-time catering company after seeing a need for more Nigerian food options.

The food truck was a natural progression to offer more Nigerian food to the masses. Now he and his team (including many family members) are expanding outside of the Big Apple, with their sights set on Philadelphia and other cities. I can admire his desire to grow a Nigerian food empire here in America, which will hopefully turn more people onto the foods of West Africa.

While West African cuisine in Philadelphia is represented, the more the merrier, I say! If you go try this new spot for Nigerian and West African food in Philadelphia, please tag me on your posts. Can’t wait to try it myself.

Welcome to Philadelphia, Chef Divine!
