Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar Hosts Philly Bloody Mary Showdown

After a multi-year drought, Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar in South Philadelphia will bring back its Bloody Mary Smackdown on Sunday, May 22 at 12:00 p.m. Folks are encouraged to bring their homemade Bloody Mary recipes to be judged in hopes of winning Philly’s Best Bloody Mary mix.

The creator of the best tasting homemade Bloody Mary mix receives both bragging rights and a prize pack from sponsor, Philadelphia-based Jacquin’s, a producer of prestige liquors since 1884.

To enter the Philly Bloody Mary Smackdown, email John Stanley at JohnStanleyPHL at gmail dot com or just stop by Ray’s and sign up in advance.

Then, just bring a quart-sized sample of your homemade non-alcoholic mix to the bar Sunday, May 22 at Noon. You and your mix will be given a number to keep the entries anonymous. Judging starts at 1pm.

Joining Ray’s legendary bartender Kristie Pagliaro Noel and most-recent Smackdown winner Shane Alikakos, will be Adriane Santa Croce, who shares her love for foods with fans worldwide on her Instagram page @ThePhillyKitchen.

Of course, John Stanley’s own overstuffed Bloody Mary’s will be available throughout the day.

Enjoy!
