Spoiler: Chef Chad Rosenthal Beat Bobby Flay

Chef Chad Rosenthal of The Lucky Well and Motel Fried Chicken appeared on the Food Network Channel’s Beat Bobby Flay where he successfully beat Bobby Flay in a fried chicken cookoff on the “Fancy Pants” episode.

Chef Chad initially beat out Chef Brian Hill of Florida in a tofu cooking contest. Chad beat Brian by making a tofu banh mi with pickled carrots. Bethenny Frankel and Geoffrey Zakarian were the judges and despite leaving the stems on the carrots, Chad was the victor.

In the head to head cookoff with Bobby, Chef Chad chose fried chicken as the dish. He prepared an herb and buttermilk brined fried chicken with cornbread and mustard slaw. Bobby made a classic fried chicken with two sauces and mashed potatoes as the side. The three “blind” judges liked Chef Chad’s fried chicken better.

If you recall, Chad was a competitor on The Next Food Network Star nine years ago. He did not become a Food Network Star, but he’s done quite alright for himself at his Philly area restaurants and various business opportunties and brand endorsements. He’s a Philly food star, that’s for sure.

Many congratulations to him for bringing home another Beat Bobby Flay win to our area. New Hope Chef Michael O’Halloran beat Bobby in an episode that aired last month.
