I’ve talked about the Fishtown location of Riverwards Produce many times before. It was announced a few months ago they would be opening a second location in Old City. I was so pleased to hear because I truly believe neighborhoods need small, independent markets and grocery stores to serve the community. The past few years have seen the proliferation of small format markets and grocers in the city by corporations such as GIANT Food Stores (with its Heirloom Markets), Target, and Sprouts Farmers Market, just to name a few.
Owner Vincent Finazzo opened the 2,000 square foot location in Fishtown almost exactly five years ago. Previously he had operated out of a small garage on Tulip Street. Now, he’s proudly opening another, small format market at 146 Bread Street in the Old City district today. This new Old City market will carry just about everything the Fishtown location does, packed with fresh produce and locally-source food and products, plus more grab and go options for busy people who live and work in the neighborhood. More vetted products will be added over time.
Give the new Riverwards Produce market in Old City a warm welcome this week! Stay tuned to the @RiverwardsProduce Instagram account for updates.
