Saxbys, is expanding its footprint in both the Philadelphia market and the higher education space. The company is opening a new cafe at 1800 Chestnut and hosting a special Pay-as-You-Wish Preview Party that will support the newly established Saxbys Fellowship, which was created in partnership with the Community College of Philadelphia.
The event will be from 8 am to 8 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 7th. at 1800 Chestnut St.
Guests will enjoy a full menu free of charge and, in lieu of payment, they’re encouraged to pay as they wish as all proceeds will go to the Fellowship, which will provide scholarships to Community College of Philadelphia students who demonstrate work experience, community service, and academic achievement. Saxbys will match 100 percent of total contributions to double the financial impact of the fund.
Saxbys has also team upped with several prominent city figures who support educational ventures for this event, including Mayor Jim Kenney and Philadelphia Eagle Chris Long, who recently announced he is donating his remaining 2017 salary to educational charities in St. Louis, Boston and Philadelphia. The company will also host Long’s teammate Rodney McLeod, PA State Representative Jordan Harris, Fox29 TV Host Quincy Harris and City Council Member Allan Domb. Each of these special guests will spend time behind the bar, serving drinks and mingling with visitors.
