Grubspotting: Loaded Tots at PHS Pop Up Garden

Hey, I haven’t done a grubspotting post in a while, let’s jump back in shall we? Now that it’s unofficially summer, I’m gonna focus on summertime grub like BBQ dishes and whatnot in the coming weeks/months.

Did you know that a new pop up garden opened up in University City? In fact, it just opened today at uCity Square located at 3535 Market Street. It promises enticing food, craft brews, botanical cocktails, games and live music. Designed by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the space is an airy, European-style garden and urban orchard with apple trees and vines filled with flowers and edibles.

The food is being handled by Sojourn Philly, the new restaurant group run by the people behind Jet Wine Bar, Rex 1516, and Cafe Ynez. Executive Chef Justin Swain is at the helm. They’ll offer an extensive food and drink menu all season long, including specials with Constellation Brands top labels Corona and Modelo Especial and cocktails made with Philadelphia Distilling’s Bluecoat Gin and Penn 1681 Vodka.

These Loaded Tots ($10) look pretty darn tasty. They’re topped with brisket, Memphis BBQ, nacho cheese, lime crema, and pickled jalapeño. Totally grubworthy.
