Tria Saturday Wine Market Try Wine Before You Buy


Thanks to Governor Tom Wolf signing Act 39 back in June, it opens up wine sales for establishments with restaurant licenses to sell wines to-go.In August, the PLCB started issuing permits for area businesses, including supermarkets and restaurants.

The Tria Cafes recently got a permit and are beginning the sale of their wines. On Saturday, they will begin a “Try It Before You Buy It” program calledSaturday Wine Market” at Tria Fitler Square located at 2227 Pine Street. It won’t be weekly at the start.

A Selection of six rockin’ autumnal wines hand-selected by Tria Wine Director, Michael “The Curator” McCaulley.

Wines are as follows:

  • Vino Frizzante “Col Fondo,” Mongarda, ‘15 (Veneto, Italy)  — $20 bottle to go

    • Pét-Nat Prosecco? Yes, this fizzy Glera is made in the ‘Col Fondo’ style fermented in bottle undisgorged

  • Rosé Pinot Noir, Adelsheim, ‘15 (Willamette Valley, OR)  — $19 bottle to go

    • Pioneering estate run by husband and wife since the ’70’s: think liquid strawberries ‘n cream (but dry)

  • Chardonnay, JH Meyer Wines, ‘15 (Elgin, South Africa) —  $25 bottle to go

    • “Natural wine, unfined and unfiltered” is Johan Meyer’s motto: pure, creamy, apple, 10 months French oak

  • Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu “Origine,” Domaine du Haut Bourg, ‘06 (Loire, France)  — $29 bottle to go

    • Mad brothers make old-vine Muscadet aged for a decade underground in tanks on lees! Creamy & cool

  • Tempranillo / Bobal Blend “Roble – El Pico,” Bodegas Illana, ‘07 (La Mancha, Spain)  — $16 bottle to go

    • Earthy and mature blend of native grapes + Merlot aged for 3 months in oak: toasty & funky

  • Freisa, Giacomo Fenocchio, ‘13 (Piedmont, Italy)  — $29 bottle to go

    • Heirloom varietal that is the parent grape to Nebbiolo with violet, leather and red fruit. Aged in Slavonian oak

FYI – these wines are not available at any State Store!

Each “Try Before You Buy” wines will be priced at $3 each for a 3oz pour.
