Sonesta Philadelphia Art Bar ‘Thirsty Thursday’ series launches just in time for summer
Following their multi-million dollar renovation, the Sonesta Hotel at 18th & Market has become a destination for locals and travelers alike who bask in the hotel’s energetic and local art-infused environment.
Art Bar, famed for its prime location, contemporary design and artistically crafted menu has a series of new additions just in time for Summer which include a re-vamped menu featuring an array of gluten-free and vegan menu choices, new cocktail and alcohol offerings, expanded outdoor seating on 18th Street and a “Thirsty Thursday” series.
The new menu begins with delicious additions to breakfast including the Morning Green Smoothie with spinach, pineapple, apple, and banana and the Mango Tango Carrot Smoothie with carrots, mango and ginger. Accompanied by the Heavenly Quiche with vegan aged gruyere and summer leek or Applewood smoked bacon and swiss cheese and the Divine Deep Dish Pancakes with vegan cranberry apple or blueberry granola, breakfast at the Sonesta is bound to impress.
Transitioning into lunch is a brand-new all-day-dining menu, available from 11:00 a.m. to close featuring menu items such as the Angus Beef Hamburger, Buffalo Chicken Tenders and Seasoned Grilled Chicken Sandwich with BBQ sauce and chips.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. Art Bar’s new small bite selection is available featuring items like Smoked Paprika and Black Pepper Roasted Almonds, Roasted Beets with Herbed Whipped Goat Cheese and Spicy Homemade Kettle Chips with Almond Lemon Basil Aioli.
The small bites are a seamless entrée into the new small plates menu that features items like White Bean and Roasted Garlic Cassoulet, Philly Cheesesteak Spring Rolls and Herb Coated Pan Seared Salmon with an Asian dipping sauce.
Also available from 4:30 p.m. to close is the new Bruschetta selection – with undeniably tasty vegan options like the Pistachio Goat Cheese Crostini with Honey Fig Jam and the Forest Mushroom Duxelles Crostini with herbed goat cheese.
These new additions compliment the prevailing variety of beverage selections such as the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey and Maker’s Mark—beers such as Allagash White and Victory Prima Pilsner alongside an expanded selection of red, white and sparkling wines from France, Argentina, California, Italy and New Zealand.
For the perfect night cap you can pair one of the new desserts such as the Red Velvet Cake, Dark Chocolate “Revenge” Torte and Chocolate Chambord Cake with any one of the eight new handcrafted cocktails.
Adorning the names of the same famous artists seen throughout the hotel’s meeting and event spaces, the artfully designed cocktails create an elevated and inspired experience. Taste the refreshing Warhol’s “Wild Raspberries” with Absolut vanilla, Limoncello, fresh squeezed lemon and raspberries or the Wyeth’s “French Twist Sangria” with Chardonnay, Cruzan Rum, St. Germain, kiwi and pineapple for a sweet yet scandalous moment – or enjoy the “Summer Days” by O’Keefe, with Absolut Citron, Benedictine, grapefruit juice, fresh-squeezed lemon, mint, and simple syrup or Calder’s “Circus” with Cabo Wabo Reposado, Triple Sec, fresh squeezed lime, pineapple and house made ginger syrup for a more exotic experience.
Finally, every Thursday evening the hotel will be hosting live entertainment inside Art Bar from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. which will compliment an extended happy hour from Monday – Friday. The live music will bring life to the bar’s beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces and create a new retreat for patrons looking to sit back, relax and observe the hustle and bustle of Market Street. Musicians include The Hashtag’s lead singer/guitarist, Joey Berndt—showcasing the best rock, alternative, blues and reggae music, the popular DJ Scooter who will be spinning some of the best beats and remixes and Dave Baker, a jazz, contemporary and classical guitarist.
Art Bar is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, 7 days per week.
