UPDATE: Wahlburgers to Open First Weekend in August

UPDATE: After what was a long wait, Wahlburgers will finally open THIS WEEKEND at The Schmidt’s Commons in Northern Liberties.

Wahlburgers Philadelphia

Wahlburgers, the better burger restaurant founded by brothers, Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg and subject of an A&E reality show, will officially open its first location in Philadelphia at the Piazza this winter. After months of much anticipation, Wahlburgers has announced its location within one of the fastest growing, young neighborhoods in Philadelphia. The 5,000 square foot restaurant will open on the ground level of the Rialto at the Piazza, 1033 North 2nd Street.

A Wahlburgers Food Truck will serve a limited menu at the site beginning on October 31st, and Philadelphians are invited to enter a contest to create the Invincible Burger in tribute to the 2006 film.

“It’s great to be bringing Wahlburgers to Philadelphia, and we’re happy to get the party started early with the Wahlburgers Food Truck letting fans know about our restaurant coming to the Piazza.  I’m also thrilled to hear about the many fan submissions on the Invincible Burger contest.” said Mark Wahlberg.

“We have big things planned for Wahlburgers here in Philly,” said Artie Giordano, Managing Partner of Hingham Affiliates, LLC. “We are pleased to bring this world class brand to the city and look forward to opening multiple locations.”

While the restaurant is under construction, the one-of-a-kind Wahlburgers food truck will operate on a limited schedule at the Piazza beginning October 31st and will be available for special events and private parties. The truck will offer the Our Burger, Alma’s Favorite Chicken, Portobello Mushroom Cap, Tater Tots, and Aqua Hydrate. Menu items are subject to change. As a special salute to Philadelphia, Wahlburgers is asking residents of the city of Brotherly Love – including all Eagles fans – to help create the Invincible Burger – named and inspired by Mark Wahlberg’s 2006 movie Invincible about Philadelphia Eagles player Vince Papale and legendary coach Dick Vermeil. Philadelphians will be able to submit their burger creations starting on November 1st on the Wahlburgers Philly website, wahlburgersphilly.com.

Wahlburgers’ chef-inspired menu offers made-to-order fresh ground beef burgers with all kinds of toppings, pure beef hot dogs, signature salads, crispy fries, tater tots and specialty frappes. A full bar will serve a variety of draft and bottled beers, including the Wahlbrewski, a Harpoon Brewery custom unfiltered pale ale, wines by the glass, cocktails and adult frappes.
