New in the Gayborhood: Little Gay Pub

What began in the 1970s as a growing safe haven for LGBTQ+ individuals, Philadelphia’s Gayborhood has transformed into a vibrant hub of nightlife and celebration, a community shaped over decades by those fighting for visibility. This rich history inspired the owners of Little Gay Pub in Washington, D.C., Dito Sevilla, Benjamin Gander, and Dusty Martinez, to open a new location in Philadelphia. Since opening on May 20, it has quickly gained popularity and is on its way to becoming a beloved staple.

When it comes to decor, not a single detail is missed. The downstairs bar features a gallery wall filled with framed photos, posters, and decorative objects, which creates an eclectic and vintage glamour vibe. At the top of the stairs hangs a stained-glass art piece with the letters “LGP” at its center, surrounded by flowers that perfectly complement the floral wallpaper. Upstairs, the glamour continues with pink walls decorated in a black lattice design and a striking gold chandelier. The lighting inside is warm, creating a cozy atmosphere. Outside on the rooftop, guests can look out onto the bustling South 13th Street. At its center stands a vintage lamp post that adds to the charm. Everywhere you turn at Little Gay Pub, there is something new to discover, from the telephone booth and jelly bean-filled jars to TVs showing popular LGBTQ+ media like White Lotus and Sex and the City.

What would a Little Gay Pub be without some Big Gay Cocktails? They offer nine specialty cocktails with something for everyone. Highlights include Ben’s Big Banana, a tropical banana daiquiri; the bright and boozy Big Gay Margarita; and the always-trendy Nervossa Espresso Martini, which is creamy and rich. For those who are booze-free, there’s the Faux Finish, a refreshing mocktail with crisp ginger ale and alcohol-free amaro. The drink menu also includes a selection of beer and wine, offering even more options. Feeling hungry? They also serve classic bar bites like pretzels with pimento cheese and pigs in a blanket.

With its beautifully enchanting space, Little Gay Pub blends cocktails and community, making it a warm and radiant addition to the Gayborhood.
