DreamWorld Bakes Opening in East Kensington

On January 2, 2025, the highly anticipated micro-bakery and pop-up sensation, DreamWorld Bakes, becomes a brick-and-mortar reality, officially opening its doors at 2400 Coral Street.

The grand opening with feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony complete with giant scissors and will kick off promptly at 8 am. The first 100 patrons will be rewarded with complimentary Baby Spice Cake Bites – cardamom cake layers, passionfruit curd, mango-chai mousse, and tonka bean Italian meringue buttercream.

Founded by Ashley Huston — a self-taught baker, community champion, and the creative genius behind Patti LaBelle’s showstopping 80th birthday cake — DreamWorld Bakes has been a year in the making. What started as a side hustle in Huston’s home kitchen during the pandemic has blossomed into one of Philadelphia’s most buzzed-about bakeries. And now, after countless late nights, sprinkles, and sugar clouds, the dream finally has a storefront to call home.

“This bakery is the culmination of so much hard work, love, and a little bit of magic,” said Huston, who was crowned Philadelphia magazine’s 2024 Best of Philly baker. “I want DreamWorld Bakes to be a space where everyone can feel a spark of joy and wonder — and, of course, enjoy some incredible treats!”

Known for artistic, flavor-packed creations inspired by her travels and diverse culinary influences, Huston has built a brand that’s as vibrant as it is heartfelt. She spent two years teaching English in rural Tanzania with the Peace Corps which inspire her bakes.

DreamWorld Bakes promises to be a haven for anyone craving a touch of sweetness, a cheerful and intimate gathering place to meet with friends, family or coworkers, and the perfect go-to for celebrating milestones.

Think bespoke cakes that look too good to eat (but taste too good not to), seasonally inspired treats that bring a little magic to everyday moments, and a buzzy café beverage menu with hot and iced coffee and espresso drinks.

“Opening a bakery has always been my dream,” said Huston. “DreamWorld Bakes is my love letter to Philly and proof that with enough hard work and a sprinkle of magic, anything is possible.”
