Well, technically, everything is closing at The Bourse Food Hall as it will be no more due to being sold to a “big-name developer” who will turn it into a wedding venue. More about that here.
It’s just very sad to see one of the last original food stalls will be forced to close, and an eatery that has been around for many years, previously in South Philly.
The Bourse had been on the market at least since last year, according to this article on Philadelphia Business Journal. So, while it wasn’t a surprise, it still comes as sad news. The Bourse Food Hall started out strong, and had so much potential, but the pandemic definitely hurt it, as foot traffic from nearby offices and tourists plummeted.
My friend, Chef Jim Hasson had this to say on his Facebook post today, announcing that Grubhouse does not plan on reopening anywhere else.
If you want to visit The Bourse Food Hall one last time, you only have a few days to do so. Feel free to share your HAPPY memories in the comments. Besides Grubhouse, my other (since closed) favorites were Lalo (Filipino food) and Baby Buns (burgers).
Sorry to see it, and the remaining food stalls, go.
If you like what I do, throw me a coffee or a stiff drink!
