Good Dog Bar, the iconic establishment nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, announces its 20th-anniversary celebration aptly titled “Cheers to 20 Years.” The roaring twenties-themed event will take place on December 3 from 7:00 PM – closing, marking two decades of culinary excellence, camaraderie, and unwavering community support. Swing, sway, and wag the night away as they turn back the clock to an era of jazz, glamor, and tail-wagging entertainment.
Founded in 2003 by Heather Gleason, a dynamic entrepreneur with a background in executive recruiting and the restaurant industry, Good Dog Bar quickly became a beloved fixture in the city’s social scene. Gleason, who opened the establishment at the age of 28, reminisces about the early days, “20 years is a huge accomplishment for any business, but in this industry, it is a true milestone. For me…20 years is insane.”
A key figure in Good Dog Bar’s journey is Dave Garry, former bartender extraordinaire at The Standard Tap in Northern Liberties, who not only joined Heather at Good Dog upon opening, but also became her life partner. Twenty years later, the two are married with two dog children and proprietors of Good Dog Bar in both Philadelphia and Atlantic City.

The roaring 20’s anniversary celebration promises an evening of nostalgia and joy, featuring raffle prizes, a souvenir photo booth for capturing memories, and the announcement of the winner of the highly anticipated dog photo contest.
In the spirit of giving back to the community that has supported them over the years, Good Dog Bar will donate 10% of sales from the anniversary celebration and match 100% of raffle proceeds to Street Tails Animal Rescue of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing rescue, medical care, and adoption services to animals in need.
Heather Gleason expresses her pride in the establishment’s longevity and the relationships built over the years: “I feel very proud of what we have built and am amazed at how many regulars we have that have been coming in for all 20 years-they are more like family.”
The celebration will also honor two original staff members, Zach and Will, who celebrate an impressive 20 years on December 3. “We will be honoring two original staff members at the party who have been with us all 20 years, and that is something I am even more proud of than just being open,” says Gleason.
Join Good Dog Bar and the Philadelphia community in raising a glass to two decades of memories, milestones, and the vibrant spirit that has defined this beloved establishment.
