True Blue Bakery, specializing in Australian-style meat pies and pastries, is opening its second location in the Frazer Shopping Center at 490 Lancaster Avenue in Malvern, PA 19355 (next to Produce Bazaar). A soft opening will occur on Friday, August 11th.
The original location, based in downtown Royersford, PA, is owned by Roy Cooper and his fiancee Fiona McPhee, who hail from the Land Down Under. They moved to the USA in 2017 and became homesick for the cuisine of their homeland. According to their website, Roy is a second-generation baker with over 20 years of experience.
An Aussie meat pie is a stuffed hand-sized pie containing diced or minced meat and gravy, sometimes with onion, mushrooms, or cheese, in a flaky pie crust. True Blue Bakery offers variations with different meats and fillings, sausage rolls, savory hand pies, and sweet pastries like pavlovas, custard tarts, and lamingtons—all iconic bakery staples in Australia—and other desserts.
The new cafe will have indoor seating and offer hot coffee drinks and cold beverages. Check it out when it opens and let me know what you think!
