Summer on the Waterfront is finally here, and the 2023 season is packed with excitement. Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest and Spruce Street Harbor Park both open on Friday, May 12.
Perhaps the most highly anticipated announcements are the introduction of a few exciting additions to the food offerings at both parks:
James Beard nominated Cantina La Martina will join Chickie’s & Pete’s and Skelly’s Amusements’ carnival eats at Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, and Humpty’s Dumplings will be introduced to the amazing lineup of Spruce Street Harbor Park’s returning favorites: Philly Tacos, French Toast Bites, Ay Burritos, Frozen Delights hand dipped ice cream, and Chickie’s & Pete’s.
Chef Dionicio of Cantina La Martina emigrated to the United States in 1998 in search of a better life. From Mexico City to California to Philly, he walked thousands of miles, slept in deserts, endured days and nights with no sleep, and fearlessly swam across a river chilled by November weather. Finally Chef made it to Philly to live with his brother, and create a home here. Fifteen years after crossing the border, Chef became a US citizen. Throughout his journey, Chef has brought his heritage to his Philly home – fusing new flavors and cuisines, keeping his family traditions alive, and sharing his Mexican cuisine and culture with the Philly community.
Humpty’s Dumplings features delicious and unique dumplings from a home-grown Philly crew.
If you’re looking for something fun and yummy to do this summer in Philadelphia, consider these two Delaware waterfront attractions!
