Touchless dumpling concept Brooklyn Dumpling Shop will be opening its first Philadelphia location at a former Dunkin Donuts spot at 308 South Street.

The grab & go dumpling shop is based on the automat-style of service—a fully contactless 24/7 experience—where you use a pre-pay or use an on-site hands-free ordering kiosk, and pick-up the food in warming lockers. The irony of this opening in the city that invented the automat is not lost on us!

This new, high-tech way of ordering and receiving food in the age of social distancing is bringing the automat back in a modern way.

As for the menu, it will offer various traditional, soup, and dessert dumplings featuring 32 varieties including many “sandwich” dumpling flavors—pastrami, bacon cheeseburger, Reuben, peanut butter and jelly, and a philly cheesesteak version, naturally. There will be vegetarian and gluten-free options available, too.

No word on opening date, but according to the window paper on the shop, it’s “coming soon.” Learn more about BDS here.

Will you welcome this touchfree dumpling concept?
