Blue J Brunch Now Open in South Philly; Shaking Crab Opening Soon

A new brunch restaurant is now open in South Philadelphia.

Blue J Brunch, located at 43 Snyder Avenue, serves breakfast and lunch from 7 AM to 2 PM every day except on Tuesday. The new restaurant replaces the former Diner at the Plaza and Frankie and Jimmy D’s.

The menu features breakfast favorites such as a classic 2-egg breakfast with choice of toast, omelets, pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and more, with hot coffee, hot chocolate, and cold juice beverages.

Lunch items include club sandwiches, burgers, cheesesteaks, buffalo wings, and miscellaneous sides.

The new brunch spot in South Philly will offer a 20% discount on all orders for the first two weeks (through October 5) as a warm welcome to the community.

Then, on October 1, the restaurant will turn into a Cajun seafood boil-type restaurant called Shaking Crab for dinner hours (4PM-10PM every day except Tuesdays) with seafood combos, trays, starters, sandwiches, soups and sides. View full menu here.

Shaking Crab is based in New England and has several locations in the Northeast (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey). It will be the first Shaking Crab in Philadelphia/Pennsylvania. There’s also a restaurant in Michigan and Las Vegas.

Like the other locations, the Philly Shaking Crab will have a full bar.

Delivery for Shaking Crab will be available by DoorDash.

The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
