Food Trends on Display at Crave Montco Month

During July, more than 50 restaurants and Montco Makers (breweries, wineries, and distilleries) in Montgomery County will be offering amazing discounts and promotions on food and beverage during Crave Montco Month. Furthermore, patrons can sample some of the most popular food trends sweeping the nation and globe in their backyard.

Try these “hot” food trends at some of Montgomery County’s best restaurants:

Plant-Based Eating: The demand for more mainstream plant-based food options is expanding globally and in the Philadelphia region. Participating Crave Montco restaurants offer satisfying plant-based proteins and meat-free options. LUHV Factory & Vegan Bistro in Hatboro leads the plant-based charge with an all-vegan menu.

Mushrooms are having a moment: New York Times recently named mushrooms “Ingredient of the Year,” an essential food for the plant-based movement. Right now, mushrooms are the “it” ingredient because of their versatility, playing a pivotal role in favorites such as pizza, pasta, and burgers. Crave Montco restaurants are finding even more creative (and tasty) ways to incorporate it. Try the satisfying Eggplant & Portobello Mushroom sandwich from Gypsy Blu in Ambler. It features roasted eggplant and meaty portobello mushroom with vegan mayo, arugula, tomato, and red peppers.

Hot and Spicy reign supreme: As interest in cooking has grown, more adventurous peppers and spicy foods have also. You can find some of the spicy, on-trend dishes in Montgomery County. Items like Nashville hot chicken eggrolls and Spicy Pork Tacos at Troubles End Brewing in Collegeville might hit the spicy spot.

Purpose-Driven Breweries: As the popularity of breweries continues to swell, younger consumers are calling on breweries to do more than just brew beer. Montco breweries provide excellent beer while supporting causes that improve their communities and the world. One example is Crooked Eye Brewery in Hatboro collecting donations for the Hatboro Police force to install a K9 unit.
