Iron Hill Brewery Takes Home Silver at World Beer Cup Beer Competition

Iron Hill Brewery (Iron Hill) claimed a Silver award for Queen of the North at the World Beer CupTM in the Wood and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer category. World Beer CupTM is a global beer competition that evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers.

Daniel Patrick O’Leary, Senior Head Brewer at Iron Hill, brewed Queen of the North at their Hershey, PA location. A full-bodied Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels for six months, Queen of the North has an intense caramel malt sweetness and aroma balanced with bourbon and vanilla flavors. Available as a seasonal beer on draft, Queen of the North packs a punch with an 11.4% ABV.

Awards were given in 103 beer-style categories during the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May 5, 2022, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota. World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 226 beer judges from 28 countries.  Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” the 2022 World Beer Cup was the largest competition to date with 10,542 entries from 2,493 breweries in 57 countries.
