A Southeastern Pennsylvania mother-daughter duo will compete on Peacock’s Top Chef Family Style, a new original series inspired by the popular chef competition show Top Chef, premiering next Thursday, September 9. Two episodes will drop on the first night with subsequent episodes airing weekly.

Talented young chefs will sharpen their knives and battle it out to prove their culinary skills in the show. Thirteen chef duos compete in a series of creative and suspenseful Quickfire and Elimination Challenges.

Ainsley Crouse, 11, and Hayley Crouse, 41, from Douglassville, PA, in Southern Berks County, appear on the debut season of the cooking competition show which will feature Grammy Award-winning global superstar Meghan Trainor and James Beard Award winner and best-selling cookbook author Marcus Samuelsson serving as Head Judge. Many other clulinary experts, chefs, and celebrities will be making an appearance on the show.

Ainsley and her mom have been cooking in the kitchen together since she was three years old. She learned the basics of cooking from her mom, an avid home cook, and YouTube videos. They credit cooking shows for helping them learn how to cook. The duo also draws inspiration for cooking from a variety of blogs, websites and cookbooks.

Ainsley, who has been modeling and acting since she was four, had the opportunity to receive a cooking lesson from Domestic Guru Martha Stewart. She was booked as a “Mini Martha,” where they spent the whole day together, bake cookies and make a fish dish.

When asked about the audition process for Top Chef Family Style, Hayley said, “Ainsley had been trying out for various cooking shows for several years and almost made it each time. This time, casting reached out to us to ask her to audition again, and when we found out it was a team show, it made us super excited. We figured we would give it a shot and the rest is history!”

Competing on a cooking show was a dream come true for Ainsley and her mother, who cook five days a week with fish tacos and Asian-inspired dishes as family favorites.

Hayley remarked, “The whole experience was wonderful. Ainsley and I got to do something together that we will never forget. Meeting all of the other cast members and crew was amazing. It was an exhausting process, but absolutely worth it. We also got to learn a ton of new cooking techniques.”

Sixth-grader Ainsley’s dream is to eventually open a food truck called Ace’s Place, where she’d serve up a fresh fusion of California and Mexican cuisine. She also hopes to travel across the country in a bus, doing food reviews, or possibly live in Hawaii one day. Naturally, she’d love to have all of this documented for a tv show.

Dream big Ainsley! Best of luck to you both on Top Chef Family Style. I hope you win the grand prize of $50,000 furnished by Capital One.
