Barry’s Buns opened in May 2016 with its first location at the MARKET at the Fareway in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. Now, Barry’s Buns is excited to open its second location at The Bourse Marketplace located at 111 S. Independence Mall East in the Old City section of Philadelphia. This historic building is undergoing a massive renovation and its glory is being restored. The new food hall will accommodate new and local artisan vendors – a true showcase of Philly’s best.
Barry’s Buns is an all-natural, made from scratch bakery, that specializes in gourmet sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, and liege waffles. Yet, Barry’s is more than buns and offers other tasty baked goods. Some other popular items are their sticky bun bread pudding, Philadelphia butter cake, crumb cake, cinnamon and chocolate babka, and Jewish apple cake – to just name a few. Plus, all Barry’s tasty baked goods will be baked on premises, at the Bourse, each and every day.
Barry’s Buns is owned by Joel Singer, who is a Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) alum and graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in baking and pastry arts. Before opening his own business, Singer was the Regional Bakery Associate Coordinator of Whole Foods Market for the Mid-Atlantic Region. His formal career in pastry began at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and was also the Assistant Pastry Chef at The Rittenhouse Hotel under Executive Chef Jean Marie LaCroix.
Barry’s Buns is more than thrilled to start meeting new customers. “We get asked all the time when we will be opening a place in Center City, so we are excited to be opening our second location in Old City!”
Barry’s Buns will be coming to The Bourse this Summer 2018. I am so excited for this place to open!!
