A Tribute To Holly Moore of Holly Eats

I am detouring from my usual coverage today to write about the passing of a legend in the Philadelphia food scene. I was sad to learn that Holly Moore, the prolific and long time writer behind Holly Eats, passed away.

Holly Moore AKA Holly Eats

He was a trailblazer, a true pioneer. So authentic and genuine about his love of food and writing about food. So inspirational to me. I looked to his example on how to cover and write about the local food scene. He did it for the LOVE, not the fame. He was a blogger before there was ever any blogs!

I only met him once, but it was impactful. I wanted to hug him forever. In a growing world of vapid wannabe Insta-famous foodies, he was a gem.

WXPN’s Robert Drake wrote a very touching tribute on Facebook today.

If you have any remembrances of Holly that you’d like to share, please feel free to do so in the comments. I’d love to hear them!

  1. Although we crossed paths from time to time in the last 35 years, I never was able to get the recipe for the great chili he served at his restaurant. He introduced me to Carmen Luntzel (with whom he visited Las Vegas) and, through Holly Eats, to many five badge restaurants.
