The Young Caribbean Professionals Network will host its 13th year of Caribbean Cuisine Week (CCW), which will take place April 25-28, 2017.

This year, CCW engages even more of Philadelphia’s finest restaurants with a fun-filled week of food and drink for a good cause – assisting over 700 economically disadvantaged high school athletes participate at the Penn Relays, and awarding scholarships to deserving students at local universities.

The 123-year-old Penn Relays is the largest track and field meet in the United States and draws over 115,000 people to Philadelphia each Spring. CCW partners with restaurants throughout Center City and the greater Philadelphia region by encouraging the Chefs to prepare and serve Caribbean inspired dishes.

The restaurants will donate 3% of all food proceeds from the four-day period to help the students.

The 13 restaurants currently participating include:

  • Sabrina’s Café – all 5 locations

  • Cuba Libre

  • Reef Restaurant & Lounge

  • Flambo

  • Fine Palate

  • Karma

  • Kilimanjaro

  • Ibis Lounge,

  • Youma Ba African Cuisine

  • 48th Street Grille

According to Rob DeAbreau’, Co-Founder of CCW and owner of Sabrina’s Cafe: “We have 13 restaurants participating in this our 13th year, and we expect this to one of our best years ever. We have 300,000 visitors in town, and they will all need a place to eat. We suggest a restaurant that’s serving the rich tastes of the Caribbean, Africa and Latin America. This event features the international flare of Philadelphia’s great chefs,” he said.

A kickoff event on Monday, April 24, 2017, 6:00 pm, will be held at Estia Restaurant, in which YCPN will present this year’s International Awards to Zabeth Teelucksingh of Global Philadelphia, Yocasta Lora of AARP, Carl Lewis of 48th Street Grille, and Julio Urgarte of MIXTO.
