Square 1682 and Executive Chef Caitlin Mateo bring their love of animals and healthy eating together for the return of the popular Bring Your Own Dog [B-Y-O-D] weekend healthy brunch for canine lovers and their pets throughout this summer season.

Square 1682 and Chef Mateo have teamed up with Morris Animal Refuge, who offer innovative and high quality care for cats, dogs and other small animals and provide a full range of preventive, protective and adoption services for abused, neglected and abandoned animals in the Philadelphia region.

Chef Mateo and her team have officially re-launch BYOD Weekend Brunch with a new menu for canine companions to enjoy on Square 1682’s attractive outdoor seating along Sansom Street. For every Tito’s cocktail and gourmet doggie-meal sold, $1 will go to Morris Animal Refuge. Tito’s will match all donations made from cocktail sales.

BYOD cocktails – for human consumption only – include:

  • Greyhound with Tito’s and grapefruit;

  • Pomeranian with Tito’s, pomegranate, lime, and club soda;

  • Cocker Daniel with Tito’s, Pinot Gris, orange liqueur, and lemon strawberry basil syrup.

Representatives and volunteers from Morris Animal Refuge will be on site with dogs in search of loving homes from 10:30am-12:30pm every Saturday throughout the summer.

Chef Mateo’s BYOD menu includes four canine-fabulous dishes for dogs to enjoy, such as Beggin’ Eggs & Taters with smoked bacon, scrambled eggs, parsley potatoes; Blue Ribbon Stew with organic chicken, steel cut oats, zucchini, carrots; Chili Chow with grass fed beef, rice, spinach, beans, bell peppers, aged cheddar; Peanut Butter Biscuits which are Chef’s homemade treats.

Of course Square 1682’s human guests will continue to enjoy an extensive brunch menu offered both Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30am to 2:30pm.
