Yards Brewing Company, a Philadelphia-based brewery established in 1994 launched the Brew Unto Others campaign last month. The campaign tagline and a “Brew Unto Others” mission statement were written to reflect the brewery’s commitment to quality, community and sustainability, while simultaneously serving as a call to action—encouraging others to get together, enjoy the beer, share it and “Brew Unto Others.”
“As a motto, Brew Unto Others sums up what we believe in as a company internally and externally,” says Tom Kehoe, Yards Founder, President and Brewmaster. “Basically, everything we do – working hard, having fun and caring as much about the quality of our product as our quality of life – comes through in the beer. Getting together with our friends and customers – making sure that we consistently enjoy drinking it ourselves – if we live by that motto, then we’re doing things right. Brew Unto Others is also a nod to the Golden Rule, ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you,’ with a little beer reference thrown in for good measure.”
The Brew Unto Others campaign launched with an “anthem” video. The 2-minute video, shot in and around the brewery and Philadelphia, features Yards employees, local businesses, community partners and the good people of Philly— what Kehoe refers to as “our backyard.” In keeping with the communal aspect of the campaign, Yards invited an initial group of friends, family and neighbors to take part in the production. Bus wraps, outdoor and in-store signage rolled out as well, all displaying the new Brew Unto Others trademark.
Announcements for more Brew Unto Others campaign elements and upcoming programs like The Good Fight will be shared via social media and at yardsbrewing.com, as well as through a series of digital videos highlighting beer events and charitable efforts of friends and partners in the community who are “fighting the good fight”. Little Baby’s Ice Cream, The Garces Foundation and more are taking part in the program’s development.
