It’s that time of year again, to start thinking about planning Thanksgiving dinner!
As consumers become more aware of farming practices and their effects on flavor and nutrition, there is an increasing interest in cooking with local and seasonal food. Delaware Valley farms offer an abundance of ingredients for the holiday meal including apples, cranberries, squash, and humanely-raised turkeys. Fair Food Philly helps make the connection by bringing a locally sourced and sustainable approach to planning the entire holiday meal.
Fair Food is taking pre-orders for humanely-raised turkeys from local turkey farms such as Koch’s Turkey Farm (Tamaqua, PA), Bendy Brook Farms (Oley, PA) and The Howe Family (Downingtown, PA) through November 20th.
They will also be offering:
- Goose, capon, duck and pheasant from Griggstown Farm
- Fresh oysters from Cape May Oyster Cooperative
- Artisan breads and pastries from Wild Flour Bakery
- Gluten-free dessert from Brulee Bakery
- Ice cream pints and sandwiches from Weckerly’s Ice Cream
Place your orders on the Fair Food Philly online store: https://fairfoodfarmstand.myshopify.com/
Pick up of pre-ordered items will occur on Tuesday, November 24th and Wednesday, November 25th at the Fair Food Farmstand in the Reading Terminal Market.
