Fox Chase Tavern Opening in Fox Chase (Northeast Philly)

When a sheet metal worker and a bartender met years ago, love bloomed first and then came a bar. Now comes another bar and restaurant in Northeast Philly.

Kevin & Jen Bove love life and love a good fun atmosphere and people. When they’re not with their three kids or tending bar, their on a motorcycle cruising and soaking up the outdoors.

First, they opened the Squire Tavern a small bar at 11708 Bustleton Avenue in the Somerton section of the Far Northeast. Now they are opening Fox Chase Tavern at 427 Rhawn Street, the former McNally’s on Rhawn, in Fox Chase.

In addition to beer, wine, and cocktails from the bar, the restaurant menu will feature comfort food such as as wings (with a variety of sauces), French fries, scrapple fries, roast pork eggrolls, smoky mac & cheese, steak and chicken cheesesteaks, roast pork sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, double smashed burger, and a few more items.

Fox Chase Tavern’s Chef Laura Turner was born and raised in Fox Chase and a Johnson and Wales Culinary University graduate. She has worked in fine dining, high volume catering, and upscale bar food at such places as Conroy Catering in Fox Chase and Bonk’s Bar in Port Richmond.

The Fox Chase Tavern opens this Thursday, May 5th, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. I wish them luck and will have more details as I get them.
