Two Philadelphia institutions, The American Pub and Hank’s Gourmet Beverages, have partnered up to give lovers of that cooling favorite, the Root Beer Float, a serious, adults-only, year-round alternative.

Pub owner Jerry Connor and the mixologists at this City Hall-adjacent watering hole favored by politicos and business movers and shakers have employed Hank’s critically-acclaimed Root Beer as the basis for a new signature cocktail, they have dubbed The Hank’s Root Beer Floatini.

The libation marries Hank’s Gourmet Root Beer, vanilla vodka, Bailey’s Irish Crème and a hearty dollop of Hank’s Root Beer Float Drizzle, which is, quite literally, a delectable secret sauce from the beloved craft soft drink. The end result?

“It’s something that combines the sweetness and texture of a classic Root Beer float with the potent, mature joys of the classic martini,” says John Salvatore, CEO of Hank’s Gourmet Beverages, which makes this critically-acclaimed craft soft drink and seven other flavors.

Connor says he was inspired to create Hank’s floatini after witnessing the hoopla over Hank’s partnership with another local Philly favorite, Bassett’s Ice Cream. This duo birthed the Hank’s Root Beer Shake Float, which debuted to throngs of consumers and wall-to-wall television coverage at Reading Terminal Market on July 31.

The American Pub is located at 1500 Market Street in the Centre Square Building Concourse.
