New Jersey Restaurant Named Semifinalist For Prestigious James Beard Award

Four-month old Osteria Radici in Allentown, NJ has been named to one of the most prestigious lists in the culinary world. The Italian restaurant located on the town’s historic main street is a semifinalist for a James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in the country. Of the 28 restaurants on the list, it is the only one in New Jersey, one of only five in the Mid-Atlantic region and one of only a few outside of large cities in the entire country.

Osteria Radici is making its mark quickly. Earning positive reviews from the start, it was also recently named one of NJ Monthly’s Top 25 Best New Restaurants. Owned and operated by New Jersey natives, the restaurant serves innovative modern Italian food. Chef Randy Forrester has worked with some of the most recognized Italian chefs in the country, including Fabio Trabocchi and Scott Conant. Ally Forrester manages front-of-house operations. Bread and pasta are made in-house daily and all seafood is locally and/or sustainably sourced.

Allentown, NJ is approximately 50 miles northeast of Philadelphia. Osteria Radici is located at 4 South Main Street. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 5-9 PM. Call (609) 223-2395 for reservations.

The James Beard awards named for the cookbook author, educator, “champion of American cuisine” and mentor to generations of professional chefs, James Beard. Administered by the James Beard Foundation, the awards are widely recognized as among the top accolades chefs and restaurants can receive. Final nominees will be named Wednesday, March 14 in Philadelphia at Parc Restaurant.
