Careme’s Restaurant Open for Lunch Featuring Farm-to-Table Cuisine

Careme’s, the student-run, gourmet restaurant at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts, will reopen Monday, Jan. 23.

The restaurant will offer an a la carte lunch menu with items including Minestrone with Basil Pesto, Chef’s Daily Soup, Caesar Salad, Careme’s Chopped Salad, Fresh Pasta of the Day, Grilled London Broil, Pan-Seared Salmon, Chicken Milanese, Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Careme’s Burger. Desserts offered are Roasted Apple Bread Pudding, Flourless Chocolate Tart and Carrot Cake.

For groups, the restaurant will offer a three-course menu featuring locally sourced ingredients, prepared and served with care and attention to detail. The luncheon menu for groups is priced at $16.95 per person, plus tax and a service charge, which helps provide scholarships for academy students.

Local partners highlighted are Academy of Culinary Arts Gardens, BF Mazzeo Produce, B&B Farms, Moylan Bottling Company, Cape May Sea Salt, Cycle Farms, Flaim Farms, Glossy Farms, Landisville Co-Op, Leighty Farms, Marandino Farms, Russo Farms, Ocean City Coffee Company, Sea Salt CSA, Sunny Slope Farm and Windy Acres Farm.

Careme’s, located at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, offers a farm-to-table dining experience that’s unique in South Jersey. The restaurant is open noon-3 p.m., MondayFriday, for the duration of spring semester. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted.

The restaurant is named after the first “celebrity chef” in culinary history, Marie-Antoine Careme. Careme’s command of culinary art was so famous in the early 19th century that he became known as “the chef of kings and the king of chefs.”

The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College recently was ranked the No. 1 culinary school in New Jersey by Best Choice Schools.
