Griddle & Rice joined Philadelphia’s Point Breeze neighborhood this past May. Half American, half Indonesian, this tiny counter-service spot serves up some of the best brunch options from both cuisines. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., they’ve got you covered whether you’re grabbing coffee and a pastry on the go or settling in for an indulgent lunch.

Explore Indonesian flavors through their drink menu with options like Es Kopi Gula Aren and Milo Dinosaur. Recommended by the barista as a favorite, the Es Kopi Gula Aren is an iced coffee made with gula aren (Indonesian palm sugar). Trying it for the first time, I found the flavor profile earthy, slightly bitter, slightly sweet, and reminiscent of caramel.

Milo Dinosaur is a chocolatey iced coffee made with condensed milk and Milo powder, a popular malt chocolate drink that tastes similar to a mocha iced coffee. They also offer a lineup of matcha lattes that are the perfect shade of green (matcha lovers, if you know you know) and deliver a bold matcha flavor. Smoothies are available as well. The Tropic Like It’s Hot is pleasantly coconutty without being overly sweet, making it a great addition to any meal.

The variety in their menu selections makes Griddle & Rice an ideal spot to bring even the pickiest eaters. From savory to sweet, you’ll find classics ranging from breakfast sandwiches packed with fluffy scrambled eggs to Crème Brûlée French Toast topped with a sugar crust and a dollop of chantilly cream. The menu also delivers excellent value.
