Women Chefs in Philadelphia You Should Know: Chef Georgeann Leaming

Georgeann Leaming should need no introduction, as I have written about her a few times in the past, but guess what? I’m going to write about her again!

Chef Leaming is no stranger to the Philly Food Scene, where she co-owned two acclaimed Philadelphia eateries, Suppa in Northern Liberties and Samwich in South Philly. The latter earned Best of Philly accolades from Philadelphia magazine for “Best Fried Chicken Sandwich” in 2016.

Then, an opportunity came knocking that she couldn’t turn down. She became Executive Chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak and Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill in Atlantic City.

After a few years, Philly called her back, where she took up the mantle as Chef de Cuisine at Chef Daniel Stern’s R2L. Then, the pandemic struck, and R2L closed. She consulted and developed recipes for other restaurants until another intriguing and career-boosting opportunity arose.

Chef Leaming is now the Culinary Director of FoodieHall, a state-of-the-art 4,000 square-food e-restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ. She manages not one, not two, but several concepts in a bustling kitchen where multiple cuisines are prepared in different kitchen stations. FoodieHall will eventually feature up to ten virtual restaurants for take-out or delivery-only within 10 miles of the facility in South Jersey.

Chef Leaming loves a good challenge! She battled on cooking competition tv shows as a contestant a few times. She’s competed on Food Network’s Chopped twice and became a Chopped Champion. She appeared on the pilot episode of Hulu’s Man vs. Master: Chef Battle.

She also recently worked behind the scenes as the food stylist for Ted Allen’s Cooking Channel Show What Chefs Eat earlier this year, which featured another women chef Nok Suntaranon of Kalaya Thai Kitchen.

Chef Georgeann Leaming is definitely a woman chef in Philadelphia you should know.
